Once completed, the facility is projected to produce 2,400 acres of methane and then liquefy it using cryogenic technology. History of Valdosta
The first inhabitants of the Valdosta area were Native Americans who used the area as a hunting and camping ground. In 1733, French explorers first made contact with the native inhabitants and established a brief trading outpost in the area. A few decades later, the area was explored by Spanish explorers who founded the city of Villa Esperanza. The area around Valdosta was then explored by both the Spanish and French again during the 1750s and 1760s, but never permanently occupied.
